Special Education in the Peace Corps

  1. Why does there need to be Special Education in the Peace Corps?

When thinking of my research question, I wanted to pick something that had value to me and was something that I was interested in.  The Peace Corps is something that I want to join after college, and I hope to be able to teach special education.  I know special education teachers are not big in developing countries, so I want to find out why the Peace Corps added it to their program.

My audience is aimed towards people who maybe want to join the Peace Corps, for people who are interested in worldly events dealing with issues and children, and also teachers who might want to know what’s going around in developing countries.  I knew I wanted to do something dealing with a Peace Corps, so from there I tried to narrow down my topic dealing with Special Education in the Peace Corps.

[3]  The author, KRISTOF, NICHOLAS D. explains to the audience that Teach For America is a good thing, but people should not forget about the Peace Corps and tells how teaching is also apart of the Peace Corps experience. [4] The author gives the fact that 46,000 applicants compete for about 4,500 slots for Teach for America. He stresses that and tries to   convince people that there needs to be a balance between the Peace Corps and Teach For America, and that there is room and need for both.
